Who We Are
Located within the walls of Bethlehem Lutheran Evangelical Congregation (BLC) is a very special place: Sunbeam Christian Childcare & Preschool. Sunbeam is a “home away from home” for up to 60 littles: babies, toddlers, preschoolers, and school-age children. Each weekday, we nurture children’s social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development. Or, as we like to say, we “make a difference in the life of a child.” As a mission of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Sunbeam is governed by a dedicated Board of Directors.
What We Do
Childcare: Led by our Director, Linette Heimbuch, and supported by a team of passionate staff, we welcome children from newborns to 5th graders, providing quality care for families. We're proud to be licensed as Level 1, Iowa Quality for Kids (IQ4K®) – Iowa’s new Quality Rating and Improvement System (QRIS) for the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). Our curriculum not only prepares children for their academic journey ahead, but shares Jesus with the precious children we serve.
Preschool: Sunbeam Preschool serves three and four-year-olds. Enrollment in the Preschool is open to children who have reached the age of three before September 15th. Tuition is paid monthly to cover the cost of the program. Tuition scholarships are available for families based on need.
